Advertising powerhouse McCann and Erikson commissioned Design Research Studio and architecture firm Gensler, to completely remodel 130,000 square feet of their Manhattan office space.

Office space was traditionally compartmentalized, however the company had to redesign it with the focus on more open zones. Each room’s interior was designed based on the grassroots of its function.  It was important to incorporate the ever-changing lifestyle and working nature of employees. The flexibility to work anywhere, whether it be in the lounges and communal areas that were created as multi-functional spaces, is highly encouraged.

One of the standout rooms is the geometric reception desk (doubles as a waiting area) that appears to be McCann’s version of what Superman would have in his Fortress of Solitude.

Other standout features are the mirrored private telephone room, “living walls”, or the mesmerizing brass ceilings over a 60-person blue sofa.

Following in suite of software companies (i.e. Apple, Samsung, Google), McCann Erikson’s design reflects their industry-leading company culture; environments are being re-conceptualized to attract top talent.
