This Christmas Heat-Mapping Technology Will Track Shopper’s Habits

This Christmas season stores are heavily investing in visual merchandising to showcase products and store layouts ‘designed’ to optimize sales.  Beyond looking at sales, how else can retailers determine the effectiveness of an implemented solution? Prism Skylabs is a unique company that can provide a way to track these shopping habits, using advanced heat mapping technology.

Websites use Google Analytics to determine where traffic is being directed to, what pages are being viewed, and which pages lead to the greatest amount of conversions. Unfortunately brick and mortar retail stores can’t just place Google Analytics in each section of the store, and sales statistics and consumer theories should not be the only indicators of the browsing habits of a customer.

Prism Skylabs connects their technology to existing video cameras and simply involves installing their software onto a computer to complete the setup.  Real-time data can be accessed via smartphone, pc, laptop, or tablet.

Using heat signatures from its customers, store owners will be able to track which items are being picked up the most, what routes of the stores are being travelled along and ignored, and even the specific products that lead to the most conversions.  The technology even compiles the data into graphs and charts!
