A Latvian photographer and grad-student from New York, Kaija Straumanis, has published a collection of hilarious pictures showing her getting hit in the face with different objects, ranging from a book, a dodgeball to even a jack-o-lantern.

The following light-hearted sets of self-portraits are sure to make you laugh, as they portray various random objects colliding gracefully with this girl’s head.
The Moment Of Impact
Very extraordinarily captured in these images is the exact moment of impact when the object hits Kaija’s face. With impressively focused eyes, the rest of her mashed-up face gives a very amusing contrast.
That Unwavering Gaze
When you see the photos, ‘Ouch’ is probably the first word that comes to your mind. In that sense, it is pretty remarkable that Kaija managed to maintain the same stone-faced expression in all the images.
A Representation Of Epiphanies
The entire compilation looks like a visual representation of epiphanies, sort of like that perfect moment when a realization strikes you. The expression ‘hit me like a ton of bricks’ seems to be brought to life by these pictures.
Other Works
Straumanis has plenty of travel photos in her photostream as well, which very clearly depict that she is a well-traveled person. The hit-in-the-face series of photos were part of a small experiment that she undertook, perhaps to explore the different realms of photography in motion.
