MIT’s #inFORM May Revolutionize Communication Through Touch
Boston-based university MIT‘s Media Lab has developed a new dynamic shape display that will change the way we communicate. It seems that it is now possible to render 3D content using the Xbox Kinect. inFORM allows for communication across the world, providing physical interactions with data.
Although it seems hard to grasp, the featured video will make it clear. Users can interact with digital information, for example, allowing you to move objects on a table with a person across the world. It allows users to physically interact, through a relatively new phenomenon known as radical atoms.
It basically functions as a pin board, with each pin connected to a mobile motor by a computer. Action is translated by moving pins. We may all be witnesses to the next step in global (tangible) communication!
