Sony Alpha 7′s Skydiving Ad Is Breathtaking

Sony’s new advertisement for its Alpha 7 and Alpha 7R cameras are giving greenrooms a run for their money. This 1 minute ad films a team of 4 skydivers falling 15,000 feet in the air…all in slow motion. Taken in only 9 shots, the views captured are inspiring, breathtaking, and surreal.
The increased quality of cell phone cameras have led to an increase in smartphone photography, and a drop in traditional camera sales. This hasn’t stopped Sony from creating, two of the best full-frame mirrorless lens cameras of 2013. The goal of the ad was to connect the lightness of the new cameras to the same weightless feeling of falling from the sky.
A standout scene occurs when a skydiver holding an interchangeable lens, floats towards another skydiver holding the camera, and completes the connection while free falling.
The Alpha 7 retails for $2000 and the Alpha 7R for $2300.
