The Auteurs Of Christmas: View Christmas Through The Eyes Of Stephen Spielberg
Boring Christmas cards are a thing of the past. Creativity has emerged and digital tools are easily at the disposal of content-makers to develop the most innovative Christmas greetings (or “Holiday greetings”). Today’s amazing video is brought to us by Fourgrounds Media Inc. titled “The Auteurs of Christmas“. The short clip shows how a Christmas story would be told through the eyes of several famous filmmakers, like Stephen Spielberg, Martin Scorsese, or even Michael Moore. The video ends with a theatrical rendition of Baz Luhrmann and closes with “Happy Holidays”.
As a brand, determining whether to be politically correct around the holidays is still an issue; to say Merry Christmas or Happy Holidays is the question in debate. The term Christmas, was more-so associated with insensitivity 8 years ago than at the moment. With organizations like the American Family Association campaigning against retailers who had chosen Happy Holidays over the former, many companies have learned to embrace diversity and celebrate the holiday to avoid the negative press and counter-intuitively increase positive brand sentiment. Either way it is a double edged sword.
One of the biggest advertising trends in 2013 and predicted for 2014, were with models that depicted different ethnicities and religion; most notably was Gap’s marketing blitz which featured Sikh actor Waris Ahluwalia and model/filmmaker Quentin Jones.
Here are some bonus photos from the video. Which director rendition is your favourite?
