Upcycling is definitely the need of the hour, the way things are going in our time. Finding new uses for old stuff seems simple enough, but did you ever think that a chopped-off tree trunk would find its way directly into your living room? The “Yosemite Coat Racks” give discarded Mangosteen trunks a new purpose; to serve as a rustic and earthy coat hanger for your home.

Humble Origins

Poor old Mangosteen trees, found in Thailand, are only valued during their fruit-bearing period. This lasts only for a short time, after which they are chopped off or burned down. Instead, Thai artisans have decided to trim, sand and stain these tree trunks to give them a new life.

Au Naturel

The thing about these Yosemite Coat Racks is that each one is completely unique. They do not undergo any process, just a little polish here and a shine there. They come with around 10-15 branches, enough to toss yours and your guests’ coats over. You could even throw on umbrellas and bags, without worrying about it tipping over. The trunk has a faded light brown tone that has a mellow yet earthen feel about it.

A Yosemite Kind Of Home Owner

One thing’s for sure; the Yosemite is aimed at environmentally conscious consumers. Although you may not like the idea that these trees are being butchered in the first place, think of the end results. This coat hanger livens up any indoor space, adding a very interesting element to the mix. You can give your living room or hallway a touch of the outdoors in the most subtle way possible. Probably placed at the entrance, this coat rack gives a warm and natural welcome into your home.
