An Intellectual Ventures Spin-Off
To put in a few words, Intellectual Ventures is a technology company as well as a patent-holding firm that is headed by Nathan Myhrvold, who was former Microsoft technology chief. CF Global will be the company’s introductory branch from the Invention Development Fund, a platform for interaction with outside inventors on patents and product development.
Inventor Of Coffee Flour
Not very surprisingly, the inventor of this funky new food ingredient we call Coffee Flour is a Starbucks veteran. Dan Belliveau, founder and CEO of the company, will be assisted by another Starbucks veteran, Ken Poppe who will serve as the project lead.
How Coffee Flour Is Made
Coffee Flour is made by subjecting coffee cherry to drying and milling. During production of coffee, the pulp that gets separated from the coffee bean is discarded. This pulp serves as raw material for the creation of coffee flour.
Uses Of Coffee Flour
Behaving like any other kind of flour, Coffee Flour can find application in baked meals, pastas, energy drinks and anything else, really. Providing a new source of revenue for small-time coffee farmers, the product already has early users like Jason Wilson, who is the co-owner and head chef of Crush, a restaurant in Seattle.
Partners In The Project
Although Intellectual Ventures has refused to divulge the size of its equity investment in CF Global, other partners in the project have been revealed. They are NohBell Corporation, global coffee companies ECOM Agroindustrial Corp. and Mercon Coffee Corp.
