Protos Eyewear, San Francisco, has launched as a crowd-funding campaign to raise $ 25,000 to start the company.

With advanced processes such as selective laser sintering, 3D scanning and 3D parametric modeling, Protos offers personalized glasses with a tailored fit based on the measurements and the dimensions of the face of an individual. This means that you will get a 3D molded frame tailored to meet your unique facial structure.

Protos Eyewear is a team of five people who developed the concept and workflow for the last two years. The team has developed a material, bioplastic, owner of titanium which is lighter and more flexible materials acetate common use. It also seems that they are also working on software that will allow them to have reference photos of the face of a person to identify the best styles of mount.

The commitment at the grassroots level for a couple of frames printed in 3D is $ 199, but Protos hoped that the funding will allow them to offer their glasses at a more affordable price.
