A Curated Storefront
Canopy was built by a group of ex-Google designers who have no official affiliation to Amazon, and behaves as a curated storefront of sorts for the popular ecommerce site, Amazon. It will exclusively trade in beautiful products that are available on the Amazon web store, but overlooked due to the vastness of its catalogue.
Prices And Similarities
With all the products priced at exactly the same price they are displayed on Amazon, Canopy is a lot like fancy sites Svpply or Uncrate. The collections feature highly sophisticated watches, bowls, knives, stools, blankets, etc.
Redesigning The Front End
It is a sort of do-up of Amazon’s front end, which you have to agree, is a total ruckus. The back end database may be unbeatable, but it provides a very classy redesign to the front end. The products have been tastefully chosen to be grouped into categories that show a lot of elegance and quality.
Handpicked Products
The site now has over 7,000 products that have been handpicked by the five-person staff of Canopy, and are of the kind that you won’t expect to find on Amazon. It is pretty much the same as buying from a boutique store instead of a supermarket like Walmart.
Presentation And Curation
Perhaps the most unique feature of this site is that every product is grouped into the ideal category and the way it is presented is completely reformed. It aims to give the very thoughtfully made products the respect they deserve with the help of apt and differential descriptions.
Featured with every product on Canopy is a link to its Amazon page, a photo, related items, and comments by members of its members. This is in lieu with treating the products as precious little pieces of art.
