Dubstep Visualised In Fire
You know that feeling when you wished you could bring music to life in some way? Well, these science demonstrators decided to make that idea a reality with this innovate device.

, A Danish team of science demonstrators created the Pyro Board, which is a fire display of sorts, dancing to dubstep music of the new generation.
The Pyro Board
The Pyro Board is an audio-visualizer made up of about 2,500 Bunsen burners. It is an improvisation of a simpler setup of Bunsen flames in a small row that reflect sound wave called the Ruben’s Tube.
The More The Fire, The Better The Show
One of the members of the Fysikshow group, Sune Nielsen, says that if you put on more fire in the setup, the display just gets better.
How It Works
Nodes and antinodes of sounds waves create different levels of flames across the board. This is affected by bass notes, which light a pretty amazing campfire in the centre of the board. When you turn up the volume, the fire gets brighter and more intense.
Imaginations Going Wild
If the Pyro Board was connected to one of those Funktion-One sound systems and a three hour set from say, Skrillex, the board is sure to produce one hell of a display. The whole idea just goes to show that pyrotechnics and EDM definitely make for a good pairing.
The Big Picture
Looking at the future, you can be almost sure that EDM concerts of the coming years will be spiced up with some massive vertical visualizing boards that respond to every build and drop of the music using megalithic flickering flames.
A Science Project
The Pyro Board is currently still a project, and was created to intensify the interest of young learners in the field of pyro science. You can read more about the inner workings of the project here.
