GoPro Presents The Miraculous Failed World Record Car Jump
From the highest base jump record to the fastest ridge racer, world records never fail to impress viewers around the world. It is in this spirit that Guerlain Chicherit, a French rally car driver hit the road to break the world record for the longest jump in a car.

The task was fairly simple – make a 360 foot jump in a car to break the previous record of 332 feet by Tanner Foust for the longest automobile ramp jump. But, things did not go as planned. Read on to find out what went horribly wrong.
The Ill-Fated Day
Guerlain set out on March 18th to the snow-capped mountains of Tignes in France to make a new world record. He had organized a base for operations in the area, and even ran some trial runs that went rather smoothly.
The Final Attempt
About 15 different parameters were intensively calculated by Guerlain for the jump, such as the angle, altitude, weight and speed of the car. Yet, as fate would have it, he lost control of his car when he finally attempted the massive jump.
The Resulting Footage
Quite shocking and macabre, the footage of the car crash shows how Guerlain advanced towards a 350-foot gap bordered by a concrete landing on one side and a steel ramp on the other. He sped at about 160 kmp/h, and as he launched himself off the ramp, the car decided to go into a sharp nosedive just before hitting the concrete.
Series Of Devastating CartWheels
The dive sent Guerlain’s car into a series of devastating cartwheels that showed the frantic backwash of a record attempt gone completely wrong. The racer was protected inside the BMW Mini though, because it was the same specially designed vehicle that he used last year to perform a 360-degree backflip.
