Built to celebrate the 100th Issue, the Zombie car was unveiled at the San Diego Comic-Con on 11 July 2012.
The Makers
Designed by the creator of the Walking Dead series Robert Kirkman, and built by car enthusiast Gary Castillo, this beast is well equipped to fight zombies when they finally make an appearance. Inspired by the tension-creating device shown in the movie Night Of The Living Dead, the car is one of its kind.
History Of Zombie Fighting Cars
Looking back, it seems a lot of zombie inspired cars have been featured in movies over the years. The Volkwagen Scirocco was shown as a shotgun on wheels, in the film Dawn of the Dead, which aired in late 1970. Zombieland, a flick from 2009, had some very interesting vehicles featured as well, from the Cadillac Escalade to the Hummer H2.
The Hyundai Elantra Coupe
Designed to escape hordes of the undead, or even battle them with some slicing and dicing from its flying chainsaw, the Hyundai Elantra Coupe Zombie Survival Machine is a class apart. Design Craft Fabrication, the racecar-building firm from California is credited for the manufacture of this car.
Not Appearing On The Walking Dead
Although the model is perfectly suited for the television series, it will not be aired on the show. Abbreviated as HECZSM, the beast will probably need a little more renovating before it can be featured.
Owner’s Manuals
The vehicle even comes with a fully customized owner’s manual, that give detailed information about the exceptional features of the car and tips on how to survive the zombie apocalypse.
