Land Airbus – First Look
Land Airbus is concept of an environmental and efficient mode of transport. China first looked at it back in 2010, but never really did anything about it. Recently, it resurfaced, through this video made by TMS Ltd., explaining how it works in detail.

How Does It Travel In The City?
The Land Airbus serves as a city bus, which is elevated, and runs above the traffic. It uses rails to travel – built on the bordering sides of the road. It is 20 feet in length, and travels at the steady speed of 25 miles per hour. Cars drive under this airbus, and the traffic signal follows bus priority.
How Is It Powered?
The Land Airbus is powered by municipality electric through the rails, and solar panels. It can carry up to 1200 passengers, and will replace 40 city buses, saving 860 tons of fuel and 2640 tons of carbon emission.
Key Features
It has a built-in elevator, for passengers to get off at stations. The hallow-out design avoids backward illusion. It has an emergency brake system, which stops the bus if there has been an accident of some sort ahead. The Land Airbus also has emergency exit systems – the sides and the bottom of the bus open up, to form ramps for passengers to get off the bus.
Why Land Airbus?
It eliminates the problem of having to travel through traffic, and saves the money and time needed for constructing alternative transport systems, like elevated tracks and tunnels for city metros. The concept is an interesting one, efficient and environmentally friendly, but is yet to be finalized.
