All motorcycle cops of the Los Angeles Police Department will now be using the Zero MMX, an electric bike right out of the military, as a pilot project.
Stealth Reloaded
The greatest drawback of conventional motorcycles is that they are incredibly noisy and defeat the entire purpose of secret operations. This is where the Zero MMX steps in, offering advantages that range from unimaginable speeds to stealth.
Tactical Advantages
The Zero MMX provides officers on patrol the additional benefit of sneakiness, as Steve Carbajal, an officer of the off-road unit of LAPD confirms. Presently, the deparment has only bought one MMX, which will be used on the road as well as off it during this pilot phase. When it goes well, the department plans to order more bikes for the entire force.
Brilliant Features
Apart from the very impressive features of stealth, the bikes are impressive in their performance because they give out no emissions. This means that you can chase suspects indoors through corridors with these bikes as well, in complete sly mode. Charging the bike costs less than $0.50, which is a great thing for the taxpayers of Los Angeles. Maintenance of the Zero MMX is minimal, the only thing that needs to be taken care of is the occassional inflation of a tire.
Zero’s Relationship With The Police Department
For about four years now, the motorcycle company Zero has been catering to the needs of police deparments in and around America ever since its avent in North California. What stands out about Zero bikes is that they are equipped with sirens, medical gear, killer lights and even hard containers for storage.
