Mission Bicycle Company has entered Kickstarter to get our pledges once again. They have been successful a number of time in the past, so maybe their new bike Lumen is worth a look at. They stumbled upon the defining idea behind the bike, one night, when they came across a reflective signboard a night, which lit up every time a vehicle passed by. They thought – why can we do something similar for bicycles? And so they did.

First Of Its Kind

When the initial idea was conceived, the team at the Mission Bicycle Company wondered why it has never been done before. And soon they found their answer, all reflective material up until now has been for 2D structures like signboards as such. So, their mission at hand was to figure out a way for the bike to shine back at the source of the light, no matter what angle.

Halo Coatings

The Mission Bicycle Company, in search of a method that makes 3D structures reflect light, came across Halo Coatings, developers of innovative technologies for reflective coating of 3D objects. Halo owns the patents of the retro-reflective powder coat used on the lumen. The Mission Bicycle Company formed an exclusive partnership with Halo Coatings, to continue their mission.

City Style

The Lumen is made out of the experience of the Mission Bicycle company which has gathered over the last 5 years in making bikes. They look retro and stylistic in the morning, and dazzling at night. They come in single or multi-geared options, and in five sizes.

At Kickstarter Again

They are on Kickstarter again, to gauge pledges. It is a success again – received almost double of their target pledges.
