Showcased at the Goodwood Festival of Speed last month, the car is expected to be available in the Playstation Gran Turismo 6 in August as an avatar to celebrate the racing game’s 15th anniversary.
How It All Started
At the Nissan Design Europe institute in London, the 2020 Vision Concept started off as a study model for budding designers. Its design draws inspiration from the present supercars of Nissan, with an added touch of innovativeness and creativity. The design heavily impressed a team of engineers at Nissan, Japan, and they decided to bring the four-wheel drive with active suspension to life.
Matching The Aerodynamics
Transforming the 2020 Vision to reality was no piece of cake, as the team had to make some intense changes in terms of engineering such that the aesthetics of the car matched its aerodynamics. When they came out successful, the design made its way to becoming an avatar for the Gran Turismo 6 video game.
The Virtual Garage
What it means to be adapted as the avatar for this game is that the design will be featured alongside 28 other car models in the virtual garage of the Gran Turismo 6 game. This is, of course, the first time that non-digital versions of the Concept 2020 are being used for the purpose. The car cannot be driven though, unless you enter the virtual reality mode of Gran Turismo 6.
High Performance All The Way
Although a car like this wouldn’t necessarily appeal to the general public, it can draw considerable attention as an avatar for a popular video game. More importantly, the concept gives the world an insight into what a high performance Nissan would look like.
