Shopping online just doesn’t get better than this. Here is the radical new ShopTheHangout initiative, by internet giant Google. Imagine combining two of your favorite things together: Social hangouts and shopping online! For some people, it may even be pure bliss. This is exactly what Google has achieved.

on Air has developed a new feature that allows apps to be built alongside the Hangouts UI. By this feature, Google Shopping Shortlists was adapted to work as an app for people watching a hangout, enabling them to purchase at the same time.
ShopTheHangout is a collective shoppable hangout initiative by Google, along with the CFDA and a distinguished group of designers. These designers include big names in the fashion industry, such as Diane Von Furstenberg, Rebecca Minkoff, Marcus Wainwright, David Neville and Rachel Zoe.
It provides a platform where you can have a hangout session with your favorite designer or retailer, simultaneously shopping from their online stores and leaving comments for others to read. This provides you with insight to the ideals and the reasoning behind each piece of clothing, even as you buy them.
It also provides retailers with an opportunity to connect to their buyers, it also helps them propagate their business and expand their sales. It has been observed that traffic to the concerned site is increased by five percent during a hangout.
It has also been estimated that Americans alone spent 121 billion minutes online, browsing through social media sites in the year 2012. Added to that, more than 200 billion dollars worth clothing was bought online in the same year. This provides a clear perspective on how dominant social media and e-commerce have become. Combining these two expansive fields not only makes the whole process easier, but also much more enjoyable for everyone.
