In a normal workout session, your brain sends signals to the muscles to contract, and therefore enhances your muscle tone and elasticity. This is exactly what SmartMio does, minus the workout and the brain.
Wearable Muscle Stimulator
Scientifically proven to boost sports performance as well as your muscles, SmartMio is the ideal device to add to your daily training routine. Giving you faster and better results with comparatively lesser effort, the device is integrated with a supporting Android or iOS app.
Indiegogo Campaign
SmartMio was launched on Indiegogo recently, and comes with a myriad of pre-set workouts that can be used on the go. The product is available for pre-order at $69 for backers on the site, with a tentative shipping date of November 2014.
How It Works
Bringing the technology of Electronic Muscle Simulation (EMS) to professional as well as recreational athletes, SmartMio is pretty much a small but convenient package powered by your Smartphone.
Development And Founders
Smartmissimo is a startup based out of Singapore, and is the mastermind behind the project. With Alex Pisarev and Filip Almakov as founders, the company is focused on creating wearable devices that are health and fitness orientated. Working with an extensive database of workout data, SmartMio enhances your workout by delivering tiny doses of electrical stimulation to different muscle groups.
How To Use
The SmartMio package consists of two electrodes, a pod, and a Smartphone app. To use, simply stick the two electrodes on your skin, right above the group of muscles that you want to enhance. The pod acts as the Bluetooth and electronic hub of the system, while the app relays information between the two.
You will then be provided with an identification of your muscle and aspect of strength that you want to target, and depending upon your selection, the app displays a customized EMS pattern that is ideal for the job.
