How The Place Came To Be Known As The Pig Beach

It’s believed that the pigs were left behind on the island by some sailors. Their intention was to come back to the island and cook them for food. But they never returned, and the pigs survived by swimming into the waters and feeding themselves on the food dumped from passing ships. Another story states that these pigs escaped from an islet close-by, after surviving a major shipwreck.
