Drifting On Flat Ground
One of the biggest aims of the Verrado Trike is to make drifting possible on flat ground. Engineered by specialists from Local Motors, the trike started off as an experiment of combining a hub motor and a battery pack from their prototypes. With this trike, you can drift on flat surfaces like asphalt, with complete control.
Built On A Prototype
The bicycle prototypes used in the making of the first iteration of the Verrado electric-powered drift bike were taken from Local Motors as well, which was finalized several testing sessions later. A lot of changes in the battery chemistry had to be made, and then the Verrado was born.
Body And Make
The Verrado Electric Drift Trike is a combination of a BMX fork with a 20” heavy duty front wheel with aluminium casting around the brushless hub motors. Two rear karting wheels are lined with a PVC pipe, while a strong disc brake and powerful programmable electric motor provide retardation and power.
Battery And Charge
The Verrado is equipped with a Lithium Cobalt Manganese battery that can be charged fairly easily in less than three hours. A full charge will give you a 12 mile run lasting 45 minutes. Of course, duration and mileage will depend heavily on the amount of drifting executed by you.
Karting Tires
Measuring 5 inches, the rear wheels are made of steel with 10 inch karting tires that feature strong PVC wheel sleeves that are ⅞” thick. These tires give a whole new level of ease for drifting, no matter what kind of surface you are drifting on.
