Pebble Smartwatch Team Promises “Something Special” At CES 2014
The Pebble smartwatch is one of the most successful projects ever launched by Kickstarter, and it was only at last year’s CES that the Pebble team announced the shipping of the brand-new device. Fast forward to CES 2014 and the Pebble team has confirmed that “something special this way comes”, and encourages current owners to stay tuned on January 6th.
What could the special news be? Reporters are expecting the the public release of the second version of the Pebble software. The software development kit was previously released this past November, and added some new features to the smartwatch. Other rumors may include a new smartwatch, the Pebble 2, with a higher resolution e-paper display.
Pebble has already reveled plans to launch a separate app store for developers to release their apps for the smartwatch. It was announced last month that the new app store would debut in early 2014, so we’re also hoping for a demo of the proposed app store during CES 2014.
The event is scheduled for 11 AM on January 6th PT (2Pm ET), and the event will also be streamed on getpebble.com.
