The communications director, Juhani Lassila, claims that the system is highly adaptive and easy to use, being compatible with other operating systems, too.
Development And Popularity
Jolla’s first phone was conceptualized within 6 months and hit the market in the first week of December in 2013. Its biggest clientele are from the early adopters sector, but it is hoped to become popular globally. Sailfish has spread to other smartphones apart from Jolla, too, and it was recently seen on a Chinese Xiaomi phone.
Exciting features
Sailfish runs Android apps such as Yandex as well as Google apps from the Playstore. Experimenting with sensors and color changing, the Jolla lab is on its way to sass up the operating system with some very cool features. Sailfish was also seen at the Mobile World Congress, running on a tablet as well as a 3D printed case.
Covers
The covers that come for the Jolla smartphone aren’t really covers. In fact, they are an extension of the hardware and software. This cover concept is called the ‘other half’ and behaves like the conventional snap-on covers, but with a twist.
The ambience, sounds and ringtones of the user interface change to match the cover you put on, giving you all the power to customize your phone to the highest degree.
Pricing And Availability
The Jolla phones that are integrated with the Sailfish OS by default are priced at 399 Euros. The company ships to the entire European Union, as well as Russia, India and Hong Kong. It will soon expand to the Chinese market as well.
