As smartphones continue to advance, the desktop home phone seems to be left behind. Many people picture the home phone as a large, unappealing piece of plastic that only has one function: to make phone calls. The vtalk desk phone aims to be a smartphone for your desk. something its predecessors could never be.
The vtalk home phone offers a large, multitouch screen interface that can seamlessly switch between HD audio and video calls. It contains a calendar and contact database, allowing users to sync appointments and meetings with Google Calendar, LinkedIn, Facebook and many more. As per the unit itself, it comes with a base and handset unit.
The company is seeking funding for the project through Kickstarter, and the aims to collaborate with developers to expand the functionality of the device. The current prototype runs a modified version of Android 4.2.
