As you step into the breathtaking world of glaciers where birds soar below you and ice masses make for a magnificent view, you will experience waterfalls, wildlife, fossils and more. How, you ask? By treading on a cliff-edge walkway leading to a platform that only has glass separating you from a 918 foot drop.

The Glaceir Skywalk

Behold, the all-new Glacier Skywalk, located right at the heart of the Canadian Rockies. The skywalk is a fully accessible observation platform giving you panoramic views of the Sunwapta River Valley in Jasper National Park, Alberta, Canada.

Breathtaking Views

The experience is unparalleled as you are offered breathtaking views, interpretive storytelling and adrenaline-pumping excitement in perfect equilibrium. The cliff-edge walkway is adorned with interpretive exhibits that draw inspiration from nature. When you look down, you will witness the hints of a life that existed thousands years ago, and when you look up, the stunning alpine glacial vistas greet you.

Unique Ecosystem

Standing right in the middle of the world’s most unique ecosystem will only make you realize how hard it is to survive in such a place, and why adaptation is an eternal process here. All in all, the platform encourages tourists and guests alike to discover a new-found appreciation for the national park.

Development And Opening

Costing about £12.5 million, the Glacier Skywalk was constructed by Brewster Travel Canada and jointly developed by Sturgess Architecture and Read Jones Christoffersen Engineering. Opening to public last month, the skywalk’s original designs have been around since three years.

Curved Glass

Jutting about 100 ft from the Alberta rocks, the skywalk has a curbed glass-floored structure that is built into the region’s rugged terrain. Echoing the natural environment, the skywalk uses steel, wood and glass in its ensemble, eliminating paint and toxic finishing altogether.
